Grandparent DNA Test (Mobile – We Come to You!)
The Grandparent DNA Test helps determine whether a child is biologically related to the grandchild of a deceased, unavailable, or absent son or daughter. This relationship test is especially useful when the alleged parent cannot be tested, but the family still needs clear, science-based answers for paternity questions, estate planning, inheritance, Social Security or survivor benefits, immigration cases, or general family confirmation. Onset DNA provides mobile grandparent DNA testing in Houston and surrounding areas using a simple, non-invasive buccal (cheek) swab, with results typically available within 5–7 business days after the lab receives the samples.
For the strongest and most reliable results, this test requires at least three participants in one of the following combinations:
One grandparent, the child’s mother, and the child
Both grandparents, the child’s mother, and the child
Both grandparents and the child (when the mother is unavailable)
A trained Onset DNA Collector comes to your home, office, attorney’s office, or another private location, verifies ID, and collects quick cheek swabs from each participant—no needles and no downtime. A buccal swab simply involves gently rubbing the inside of the cheek with a soft swab to collect DNA cells. For best results, all participants should rinse with water about 30 minutes before the appointment and avoid eating, drinking, smoking, gum, mouthwash, or toothpaste for at least 30 minutes beforehand, which helps ensure clean samples and reliable results.
For any Grandparent DNA Test involving a minor (under 18) or an individual who cannot legally consent, a legal parent, legal guardian, or court-appointed representative must authorize testing. Onset DNA may request the child’s birth certificate, photo ID for the consenting adult, and any relevant court, guardianship, or CPS documents. Texas law requires consent from the person being tested or their legal representative, especially in family law, paternity, and inheritance-related cases. If proper consent or documentation is not provided, Onset DNA may decline or delay testing to protect the rights and safety of all parties involved.
