Sibling/Twin DNA Test — Mobile Collection Available

The Sibling DNA Test helps determine whether two individuals share one or both biological parents. It can indicate whether they are full siblings, half-siblings, or unrelated and is often used when a parent is unavailable or unwilling to participate. Testing can be completed with the two potential siblings, or a known parent may be included to strengthen the analysis. Results are typically available within 4–7 business days after the laboratory receives all required samples.

The Twin DNA Test, also known as a zygosity test, determines whether known twins are identical or fraternal by comparing their DNA profiles. This test may be useful when birth records are unclear, family members received conflicting information, or appearance alone does not provide a definite answer. Identical twins have nearly identical DNA profiles, while fraternal twins share DNA similarly to other biological siblings. Results are typically available within 2–3 business days after the laboratory receives all required samples.

A trained collector provides quick, painless cheek-swab collection at your home, office, attorney’s office, or another approved location. Additional-participant, separate-location, international-collection, or specialty-testing fees may apply.

Minors & Legal Consent

For testing involving a minor under age 18, a legal parent, legal guardian, or court-appointed representative must authorize testing. Other relatives may only consent when they have documented legal authority, such as a court order or guardianship papers.

Onset DNA may request the child’s birth certificate, photo identification for the consenting adult, and relevant court, guardianship, or CPS documents. Testing may be delayed or declined when proper authorization or documentation is not provided.

Booking & Preparation

After payment, clients receive registration and appointment instructions by email. Participants should have valid photo identification and any required legal documents available at the appointment.

For best results, rinse the mouth with water approximately 30 minutes before collection and avoid eating, drinking, smoking, vaping, chewing gum, using mouthwash, or brushing teeth during that period. These steps help support clean DNA samples and reliable test results. Additional participants, separate locations, international collections, or specialty testing fees may apply.
